Used to be that Sears and KMart let folks stand in their entryway to solicit for the Salvation Army. Then they made them stand outside. Then they forbade them. Then they “restructured” and those buildings are in use by other businesses. All because it WAS private property and they DID have the right to do it.
PS: I’m not suggesting causation despite the sequence of events. Rather, I think the cause was a disconnect between what the BOD and CEO wanted and what potential customers wanted. Quite possibly including Xmas bell ringers.
